What to Prepare for Auditions

Please prepare 16-32 bars (approx. 1 minute) of a musical theater or pop song in the style of Spring Awakening. Auditioners should bring recorded accompaniment, a speaker and hook ups will be provided. You may also sing the selected piece here and accompaniment will be provided. There will be a short movement element of the audition so please wear or bring clothes and shoes you can move easily in. Auditioners will also be asked to read from some of the sides provided here.

Description of SoWashCo Summer Stock

Join your peers to create a performance of Spring Awakening. Both actors and technicians are invited to partake in this technique focused and skill-building intensive process. Dive into this pre-professional experience to hone your technique and create a full-length performance. There is a $100 registration fee for all participants. If you are interested in performing you will be asked to audition, and can register following casting. Ages 16-22 are eligible to participate.

*Limited scholarships are available if registration fee is a barrier

Age of Performers

Auditions are open to performers 16 years and older. Any auditionees who are under 18 years at auditions must present a signed parent/guardian permission slip here confirming acceptance of the adult themes and mature requirements of this show. If an under 18 auditionee is successful in being cast in this production, further consents and guidelines will be discussed with the parent/guardian and cast member.

Casting a show is never easy. If you don’t see your name below, please do not be discouraged. We want to see you all auditioning for future shows at East Ridge. If you still want to be involved with the show you are welcome to join tech crew. Also, please return your scripts to Ms. Carlson next week.

Cast, go thru your script and highlight all your lines that are part of the real play Murder at Haversham Manor. We will begin staging just that part of the bigger play first. Those playing stage crew should also highlight those sections as well as you’ve also been rehearsing the play within the play. Can’t wait to get started!!
