December LoftPac Minutes

• Play In A Day: Kick-off party is Friday, December 15^th at 6pm (movie afterward) All participants must be there. Bring a costume piece, prop, or set piece to use/inspire plawrights. Public performance is Saturday, December 16^th at 7pm

• Little Shop of Horrors: December 15^th in the Loft Stage 7pm-10pm, Snacks will be provided. Kicks off play-in-a-day. Wear your jammies!

• Backstage Day (techie tour): Date to be determined, but will be before One Act goes to competition. Learn how to hang lights, coil cables, run sound / light boards and more!

• Loftie Holiday Party: It will be December 30^th 8-11pm at Merrill Arts Community Center. White Elephant gift exchange.

• Thespian Conference: It will be Presidents Day weekend, Sunday February 18^th and Monday, February 19^th all day. National Individual Event Showcase will take place as well as workshops. Cost is $80 per person until Saturday, December 16^th.

• Thespian Points : Online submission http://bit.ly/erhsthespian, minimum of 10 points for induction, graduation tassels, spring induction @ banquet (5/18), overview of Thespian point System can be found here: https//drive.google.com/file/d/OB6nD2uZ85HSAVDdaT2JvZGptZzg/view?usp=sharing

• MN Scholars of Distinction: This is for Juniors and Seniors Application is due December 16, 2017. Portfolio Submission is due February 23, 2018. Artistic Showcase is April 23^rd and 28^th, 2018. Awards Ceremony is May 12^th, 2018

• One Act Festival: January 19^th at 7pm. Cast and crew register on feepay. Parent meeting is Wednesday, December 13^th More details to come.

• Winter Community Outreach: Service project benefiting women veterans, Grace After Fire- “To help women veterans help themselves” It helps women transition back to civilian life and deal with PTSD, depression and more. Possibility would be to interviw/honor women veterans in Lofties’ lives, show in display case

• Coat Drive Results: We collected 99 coats, almost 20 snowpants, a couple of pair of boots and a few bags of hats and mittens.

• 2017-2018 Spotlight Education Honors for East Ridge High School’s production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat are posted on the Loft Stage website!

Join LoftPAC, our student drama club, for our very first Play-in-a-Day Festival this Saturday, December 16th at 7:00PM in the Loft Stage! Students will have 24 hours to write, direct, rehearse, and perform a series of one act plays. Can it be done? Come and find out! Admission is free will donation. We hope to see you there!

Please remember that all performance crew members (minus Alli) must put in at least 20 hours in to set/props construction.

Once again, I want to congratulate you all on your hard work and dedication to our production. Keep in mind that all artistic feedback is subjective and there are many factors that contribute. I hope you’ll use this as an opportunity to both feel encouraged and find the areas where you can continue to grow as young artists! Please meet in the choir room following the LoftPAC meeting tomorrow (Friday) to go over our feedback together.

Thank you so much to all who auditioned this week! Simply put it was amazing to see all of the talent that the Loft Stage has! Please know that casting is one of the hardest parts of the process for me as a director. Especially since I can only have twelve folks in the cast. I encourage anyone who was not cast to join us on Friday for the tech meeting. If you are cast we start tomorrow at 3:30 in the black box!
