Remember, the character you show when you look at a cast list is much more important than a character in a play.
Thank you to each and every one of you who auditioned for Romeo & Juliet. We so admire your bravery and hard work; you made this a difficult task for us all! All cast please meet at 3:15pm on Monday in the theatre for our first rehearsal. If you were not cast, we encourage you to keep auditioning! Also, please consider joining the technical crew (i.e. lighting, sound, set, costumes, etc.). The tech crew informational meeting is Thursday, February 27th at 3:15pm in the choir room.

“Romeo and Juliet” tells the tragic story of two young lovers, Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet, from feuding families in Verona, who fall deeply in love at first sight despite their family’s bitter animosity; their secret marriage and escalating conflict ultimately lead to a series of tragic events, culminating in their deaths by suicide, tragically ending the feud with their combined demise.
Ruling house of Verona
Prince Escalus is the ruling Prince of Verona.
Count Paris is a kinsman of Escalus who wishes to marry Juliet.
Mercutio is another kinsman of Escalus, a friend of Romeo.
House of Capulet
Capulet is the patriarch of the house of Capulet.
Lady Capulet is the matriarch of the house of Capulet.
Juliet Capulet, the 13-year-old daughter of Capulet, is the play’s female protagonist.
Tybalt is a cousin of Juliet, the nephew of Lady Capulet.
The Nurse is Juliet’s personal attendant and confidante.
Rosaline is Lord Capulet’s niece, Romeo’s love in the beginning of the story.
Peter, Sampson, and Gregory are servants of the Capulet household.
House of Montague
Montague is the patriarch of the house of Montague.
Lady Montague is the matriarch of the house of Montague.
Romeo Montague, the son of Montague, is the play’s male protagonist.
Benvolio is Romeo’s cousin and best friend.
Abram and Balthasar are servants of the Montague household.
Others
Friar Laurence is a Franciscan friar and Romeo’s confidant.
Friar John is sent to deliver Friar Laurence’s letter to Romeo.
An Apothecary who reluctantly sells Romeo poison.
A Chorus reads a prologue to each of the first two acts.
Students auditioning will read a monologue, and a group scene. Audition Sides from Romeo & Juliet are provided, and it is preferred to use a provided side for the monologue. If a student wants to prepare their own monologue that is either of heightened text, or from the same time period, that is allowed.
