WHAT SHOULD I PREPARE:
Students who wish to participate are asked to prepare 16-32 bars of a song they would use for a general audition. An accompanist will be provided. Please bring sheet music in the correct key. Treat this as if it is an audition–so dress and act appropriately.

Please indicate on your registration if you would like to participate in the audition. We will have a certain number of slots available and once those are full will draw names out of a hat at the workshop if extra time is available.
Students are also invited to attend and learn by watching if they do not want to be work-shopped.

From President Pari Cariaga:

It’s hard to imagine that after months of preparation the end is almost here for White Christmas.  I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the staff members who have put in countless hours in order to make this show a success.  But I particularly want to thank all of the parents for your continual love and support (particularly in the form of food) throughout the entire process.

So what is next at the Loft Stage?  Since the last newsletter Mrs. Carlson (new mama and one-act director) has finally announced what her show is going to be!  The play is called The Big Meal and it tells the story of a couple throughout some key moments of their relationship.  One-Act offers students a unique opportunity in that they perform not only out of love of putting on a show, but also for a little friendly competition.  The Big Meal will perform at the district One-Act festival and compete at sub-sections.  After sub-sections the play has the possibility of moving on to sections.  Last year was the first time East Ridge’s One-Act moved on to sections where it finished third.  I highly recommend that all students find a way to get involved with The Big Meal in order to make it the best it can be!

Lettering Policy

In order to earn an East Ridge letter in theatre, students must meet the following requirements:

  1. Participate in each of the three main-stage productions in some capacity (e.g. acting, technician, set construction, ushering, etc.).
  2. Earn a bear minimum of ten Thespian points for East-Ridge-related theatre activities (see details above about point allocations).
  3. Complete at least ten set construction hours in the East Ridge scene shop. This total is inclusive of individual production requirements.

Please use the above Google form to input participation as that documentation will be used to track lettering as well.
