Musical Theater Training

Learn from professionals who have graced the Ordway’s stage through our Musical Theater Training programs!  Formats are available for a variety of learning styles and interests, including audition workshops on cold reading and song performance, a series of dance classes for aspiring musical theater performers, and a two-week summer musical theater intensive camp to develop and hone the skills necessary to become a Triple Threat.

Triple Threat Training: Ordway’s Professional Musical Theater Intensive

Date: Two-week Session, July 14-18 & July 21-25
Open to students ages 13-18

Musical Theater Training Workshops and Classes 

These workshops and classes offered are designed especially for adult and young performing artists. Those interested may choose to partake in audition workshops, cold readings workshops, and song interpretation and presentation workshops. To reserve your spot, call 651.224.4222.

Spring Musical Theater Dance Classes 

Ordway’s musical Theater Dance Classes are designed as a musical theater dance boot camp and will help performers build their Broadway-style dance repertoire with instruction in tap, jazz, ballet, hip-hop, dance vocabulary and dance audition techniques for the musical stage.

LoftPac students,

We are in need of volunteers for three separate events in the coming months. Please find the sign-up sheets in the file holder outside Ms. Hestwood’s office door. These hours do count toward lettering and help to fulfill part of the LoftPAC mission of building the next theater generation.

1. Jan 13-14- at Lake Middle School- Lake needs volunteers to help warm up and work with the kids who are auditioning for their fall musical, Seussical Jr.. Times after school until 5:00pmish.

2. February 7 and 8-at East Ridge for Middleton Elementary- Middleton needs students to help wrangle kiddos for their dress rehearsal and public performance of their school play which will be performed at the Loft. Times are 4:00pm-9:00pm on Friday and 8:00am-12:00pm on Saturday.

3.March 21 and 22nd-at Woodbury High School for Liberty Ridge Elementary- Liberty Ridge needs students to help wrangle kiddos for their dress rehearsal and public performance of their school play which will be performed at the WHS. Times are 4:00pm-9:00pm on Friday and 8:00am-12:00pm on Saturday.

MN Conference for 2014 is scheduled for February 16th and 17th. The event is a very full two days of all things theatre and the cost for students is just $60.

Lettering Policy

In order to earn an East Ridge letter in theatre, students must meet the following requirements:

  1. Participate in each of the three main-stage productions in some capacity (e.g. acting, technician, set construction, ushering, etc.).
  2. Earn a bear minimum of ten Thespian points for East-Ridge-related theatre activities (see details above about point allocations).
  3. Complete at least ten set construction hours in the East Ridge scene shop. This total is inclusive of individual production requirements.
