LoftPac Officers: If you would like to be a LoftPac officer for next year, you can fill out a google form with the position you want, leadership-related questions to answer etc Possible positions: President, VP, Community Outreach, Community Building, Historian and STO/Thespian Officer. After everyone has applied to be an officer students will vote for who they would like for each position.  Scapino : Spring Play Director Marcie Berglund (mberglund@theloftstage.org) , comedy including singing, acrobatis and an Italian flare. Poster Plaster is April 21st. Performances are May 4th and 5th at 7:30pm and May 6th at 2pm. Strike will be immediately after the show.

 Stage to Screen Movie Night: Noises Off is what we will be watching! It is a straight play (comedy). Friday, April 13th at 7pm in the Loft! Snacks will be provided.

Relay For Life: The Relay Committee is, Team Captain: Elizabeth Avery 651-894-3459 along with the other members Alex Bretoi, Jonas Hallstrom, Abby Feuer, Meghan Horan and Anya Steffel. The Relay Kickoff Meeting is optional on April 7th, 9am at Health East. 42 days until RELAY!!! Each individual has a goal of at least $100 they need to raise for the team. If you raise the $100 by Tuesday, April 24th you will receive a participant t-shirt. Email family and friends, post on social media, ask your neighbors, do odd jobs and get out there and FUNDRAISE! On May 8th Dairy Queen is partnering with Relay again this year and will give $1, of every Blizzard sold, will go back to Relay for Life. So, grab your family and friends and get a blizzard on May 8th and fight back against cancer. You can buy a luminaria bag from Elizabeth (when she gets them) for $10 and decorate them in honor or memory of someone you know who has had cancer.

Lettering and Inductions into International Thespians: List of both will be released at the May LoftPac meeting. Please update your Google Form submissions ASAP!! Requirements for both are on the Loft Stage website.

Banquet: The banquet will take place on May 18th in the Media Center. Officers and shows will be announced for the 2018-2019 school year. There will be food, performances and inductions to the Thespian Society. Check upcoming Loft Newsletter for more details. The time will be determined at a later date. The banquet is the same night as Relay for Life.

Thespian Festival: Congrats to all who performed (Shoutout to Ethan and Carter for superior ratings!!)

TV Premiere of Rise: Premiere is Tuesday, March 13th at 9pm…might be watching a different day. Let us know if you would like to host (potentially during spring breakJ ). It is similar to Glee, with theater and students

Chicago: Auditions are June 4,6,7. Rehearsals are July 16-August 15. Performances are August 16-25 in the black box. No fee for auditioning, but $99 fee for being cast. Ages 16-22 only. Bring a 32 bar cut of a song (style of show) and accompanist is provided, there will be a dance call, so wear comfortable clothes, and bring a resume and current headshot. Auditions are at Merrill Community Arts Center. It is directed by Kajsa Jones!

You must participate in all 3 shows, have 10 Thespian points for East Ridge related activities, and have 10 technical hours (inclusive of individual show requirements) All of this will be tracked through Google form submissions, so please remain current!

REMINDER:
Do not forget to log Thespian points! We have our ceremony at the Banquet in May, and you can get inducted and or awarded for points!

* Thespian Conference

NIES is an option at the conference. You can perform one or two of the following: solo, duet, trio, group song, monologue, partner scene, group scene, etc.

* One Act Festival
At East Ridge on Friday (January 19th at 7PM)!! The cost is $5 for general admission. All three high schools in the district will present their one acts! We are in need of parent volunteers for ushering and ticket sales (talk to Mrs. Carlson) and students for ushering. POSTER PLASTER IS TOMORROW!! Our community outreach project is Grace After Fire.

There is a workshop offered at the Orpheum! It is held January 20th with sessions at 9am-12pm or 1pm-4pm. ACTORS ARE WELCOME TOO! We are going to see Chanhassen on Thursday, April 5th! It is $65 (includes bus, tour, show, and meal) It is open to choir and theatre students! Sign ups will open Friday, February 2nd (next LoftPac meeting) THERE ARE ABOUT 50 SPOTS OPEN

* Reader’s Theater Opportunity!!
This will be held Friday, February 2nd in the Loft from 5pm-10pm. It combines wrestling and theatre. There will be performance excerpts from various scenes and monologues relating to wrestling. See Mrs. Carlson if you’re interested in performing!

  • Play In A Day: Kick-off party is Friday, December 15th at 6pm (movie afterward) All participants must be there. Bring a costume piece, prop, or set piece to use/inspire plawrights. Public performance is Saturday, December 16th at 7pm
  • Little Shop of Horrors: December 15th in the Loft Stage 7pm-10pm, Snacks will be provided. Kicks off play-in-a-day. Wear your jammies!
  • Backstage Day (techie tour): Date to be determined, but will be before One Act goes to competition. Learn how to hang lights, coil cables, run sound / light boards and more!
  • Loftie Holiday Party: It will be December 30th 8-11pm at Merrill Arts Community Center. White Elephant gift exchange.
  • Thespian Conference: It will be Presidents Day weekend, Sunday February 18th and Monday, February 19th all day. National Individual Event Showcase will take place as well as workshops. Cost is $80 per person until Saturday, December 16th.
  • MN Scholars of Distinction: This is for Juniors and Seniors Application is due December 16, 2017. Portfolio Submission is due February 23, 2018. Artistic Showcase is April 23rd and 28th, 2018. Awards Ceremony is May 12th, 2018
  • One Act Festival: January 19th at 7pm. Cast and crew register on feepay. Parent meeting is Wednesday, December 13th More details to come.
  • Winter Community Outreach: Service project benefiting women veterans, Grace After Fire- “To help women veterans help themselves” It helps women transition back to civilian life and deal with PTSD, depression and more. Possibility would be to interviw/honor women veterans in Lofties’ lives, show in display case
  • Coat Drive Results: We collected 99 coats, almost 20 snowpants, a couple of pair of boots and a few bags of hats and mittens.
  • 2017-2018 Spotlight Education Honors for East Ridge High School’s production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat are posted on the Loft Stage website!

Lettering Policy

In order to earn an East Ridge letter in theatre, students must meet the following requirements:

  1. Participate in each of the three main-stage productions in some capacity (e.g. acting, technician, set construction, ushering, etc.).
  2. Earn a bear minimum of ten Thespian points for East-Ridge-related theatre activities (see details above about point allocations).
  3. Complete at least ten set construction hours in the East Ridge scene shop. This total is inclusive of individual production requirements.

Please use the above Google form to input participation as that documentation will be used to track lettering as well.
